“I was raised in a Christian home and have believed in God for as long as I can remember, although it was not until I was a teenager that I began to have a strong personal relationship with Jesus as my savior. I grew up overseas, in a situation that did not lend itself to much exposure to the kind of scientific fields I was interested in. I was convinced by the time I finished high school that I could never pursue a career in anything related to science or technology.
After two years of majoring in a completely different field of study, I felt compelled to change my major to electrical engineering. I wanted a skill set that would allow me to easily work anywhere in the world. The transition was difficult, but I was encouraged by a conviction that God was with me, and he would enable me to succeed if he wanted me to be an engineer. My view of God's power and wisdom has grown both through what I have studied, and through seeing him work in my life as I have navigated a difficult program. As I prepare for my last full semester as an undergraduate, I am excited to see what God has to show me next of who he is, and how I will bring him glory.” - Skybridge Student desiring to live and work in Africa or the Middle East.
Every week we gain new members at Skybridge. Part of the application process is writing your "Faith Story." We want to know why you are applying to join Skybridge and the steps God had you take before you arrived on our virtual door step. Time and time again we are blown away by the Faith Stories that come through. It is obvious that God is on the move. He's changing hearts of people who previously thought "missions" was something super spiritual, theoglogically trained people did. God is showing teachers, engineers, doctors and nurses that they too have a part to play in taking the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Today we want to challenge you. Don't assume that the task of taking the gospel to the ends of the earth is for "the professionals." Take a good look at your skills, talents and job opportunities. Then ask yourself, "how can I leverage my job for the spread of the gospel to the nations?"
